Citizens’ CETA summit

After the CETA vote by EU Trade ministers has been postponed, European Stop TTIP and CETA campaigns organised the Citizens’ CETA Summit on 20th of October, 2016 in Brussels. During this summit, international experts as well as local representatives expressed their opposition to CETA. Furthermore, a joint declaration was signed. It calls for governments, members of the European parliament and members of national parliaments to vote against CETA. The Fair Economy Alliance was also present – of course – to sign the declaration, discuss, network and exchange

Member of the European Parliament Ska Keller (Green Party), one of the organisers of the Citizen Summit, announced further opposition in the European Parliament which gets to vote once EU governments have signed the deal.

Ondernemers van nu brought the campaign caravan from Amsterdam – a great eye catcher and hive for interested visitors! Thanks to all for bringing info materials and engaging in discussions!

To conclude, the CETA signing summit has been cancelled for now, but a final decision is still pending.
